It is well recognized that medical workers such as nurses have an essential role to play. They perform a range of duties that are linked to the restoration of the functions of the body. All of the body functions originate at the cellular level, and the lack of normal cellular processes hinders the body’s performance of some of the functions. Clinical workers are tasked with the duty of restoring some of the body functions, and the only way they can do that is if they know what the cell is about and how it operates. Knowing what the cell is about would mean knowing all of the components of the cell, and that is the focus of the discussion.

The cell membrane as a cell component
The cell membrane is a type of component known to be in all cells found in the body. Different cells might have functions that are different from other cells, but the function of the cell membrane is always similar in all cells. Also, cells, such as plant cells, have a cell wall, but it does not replace the functionality of the cell membrane since the cell membrane is still present in such cells. The cell membrane has a preventive function whereby it prevents harmful substances and chemicals from entering and causing destruction to the cell structure and other components (Schwille et al., 2018). The cell membrane has a complex structure that acts as a passage of molecules and particles needed by the cell. It will limit the passage of other substances that cannot fit in its pores due to their structures.
The cytoplasm as a cell component
The cytoplasm is among the inner components of the cell as it is found in the cell. The cytoplasm is among the difficult components to predict in structure or even its function because it tends towards being different in its function. The difference is related to what it is composed of. The cytoplasm has different molecules and ions that serve its function. It also acts as a site for cellular reactions because of the presence of enzymes found in its structure. Additionally, the cytoplasm has the duty of providing a surface area for most of the cell organelles (Hustedt & Durocher, 2017). The cytoplasm may also affect the cell’s shape formed by the cell membrane because it may be denser or less viscous from time to time.
The nucleus as a cell component
All of the genetic materials of the cell are found in the nucleus. The nucleus has a function that any other cellular component cannot perform. It serves as the control center of the cell because it controls and coordinates all of the cell functions. This implies that the nucleus controls the functions by allowing the passage of substances in or out of the cell by the cell membrane. The nucleus also controls certain functions such as enzymatic activity by identifying the necessary reactions for the cell and those that are not. The DNA material found in the nucleus also serves the function of providing information that may require the making of new organelles that may help replace old or destroyed organelles.
The cell is simple, but all organisms need the cell. When medical workers understand what the cell is composed of and some of its functions, they can provide medications that can target various cellular functions that can help in influencing recovery.
