Mood: Anxious Behavior: Pacing Affect: Appropriate Speech: Normal rate/Volume Cognition: Oriented Participation level: Active Intervention: Praise/Support VA is a 37 y/o African American female who is presently in divorced court with her husband of 15 years is the 5th member in the group. The patient has been depressed for the past six months D/T marital problems with her husband whom she also claimed he was cheating on her with another woman. VA is self-employed she and her husband has two children both in middle school. VA She has been in group therapy for a month. VA states, “I am presently having trouble adjusting to single life and a new environment without my husband”. “When I found out he is moving on with someone else that broke my heart and led me into a depressive state, my self-esteem also decreased at that point having wired feelings like what is wrong with me? Am I not presentable enough? Is the other woman better than me”? I thank God for my aunt and two children who are my also my strong support system. The patient states I was also having trouble sleeping my doctor had put me on Ambien, but it was not helping enough so he took me off of it and put me on Seroquel 25mg at bedtime and Vistaril 50mg three times a day as needed since then I have not have much problems even though I am still depressed the medications seems to be helping a little. The therapy sessions are also helping but not much. The patient denies illicit drugs or alcohol use her depression has decreased greatly since attending group sessions she rates her depression as 6/10 anxiety 6/10 she also denies mood changes and decrease in self-esteem. The patient was given a printout on Self-Esteem- 12 simple activities you can do to start Building Self-esteem to remind herself anytime she has self-esteems issues she was also engaging and actively participated in therapeutic activities. VA was appropriate and alert she shared and responded well to the intervention. Patient next follow up session is in two days.
Patient diagnosis are MOOD Disorders, adjustment Disorder
The patient denies family history of substance abuse.
