The goal of clinical practicum is to integrate theory and clinical practice under the supervision of a mentor (preceptor) and to gain experience in the role of advanced practice nursing. The purpose of the final paper is to:
Document patient characteristics and clinical management strategies used throughout the student’s practicum
Validate the attainment of course objectives/learning outcomes
Substantiate the application and development of population-based competency according to the FNP competencies

Document patient characteristics and clinical management strategies used throughout the student’s practicum
Validate the attainment of course objectives/learning outcomes
Apply the concepts of family theory while providing care to infants, children, and women of child-bearing age.
Integrate comprehensive health assessment data based on developmental stages and knowledge of underlying disease pathology to determine differential diagnosis and initiate a plan of care in infants, children, and women of childbearing age.
Provide comprehensive evidence-based primary care that is holistic, continuous, and coordinated within the context of family and community to infants, children, and women of child-bearing age.
Articulate the role of the family nurse practitioner in providing family centered care for infants, children, and women of child bearing age.
Employ interdisciplinary relationship based care to parents of healthy and ill pediatric patients in addition to women of child bearing age and their significant others.
Substantiate the application and development of population-based competency according to the FNP competencies
